OK, let’s just call this “Partially Naked Blood Moon” to stay with the theme of this blog. :)
I recently got a Nikkor 18-200mm zoom lens. This is my first lens with vibration reduction (VR). I just had to see how well VR worked with a hand-held shot with the lens in the 200mm position. Apparently it works very well as you can see how sharp the eclipsed edge and the star at the lower right of the moon are. I am impressed! No post sharpening was added. The ISO was 6400 because I wanted to use the noise to add a grainy effect. This was shot on 4/15/2014 with a hand-held Nikon D7000 at 1/20 second at f/5.6 at 2:25am EDT. Final image is cropped.
